8 Best Wrinkle Fillers for Smoother, Firmer Skin

These derm-loved formulas help soften lines and boost bounce.

By ben Margen

Wrinkles tell a story of your life, but hey, if we said the best wrinkle filler could bring your skin back to baby-soft and smooth status—similar to so-called “Botox in a bottle”—would your ears perk up? We thought so.

Not to be confused with the injectable fillers you’d get at a dermatologist’s office, wrinkle fillers are “topical products designed to temporarily plump the skin and smooth out the appearance of fine lines,” says Margarita Lolis, MD, a board-certified dermatologist in Hackensack, New Jersey. “These products attract water and seal it in the skin, thereby ‘filling in’ wrinkles.” The hydration gives your skin an instant boost, making it look plumper and more refreshed.

For long-term results, other formulas also use retinoids, like over-the-counter retinol or prescription-strength tretinoin, to help spur collagen production and restore lost volume. (PSA: It's worth keeping in mind that moisturizers and serums can only do so much, and they definitely cannot deliver the same taut or super-smooth look that an in-office procedure can.)

Our Top Wrinkle Fillers

Wrinkle fillers can be a game-changer for anyone with dry, dull, or mature skin who wants a quick, temporary boost of plumpness and radiance. “You could even start to slowly incorporate wrinkle fillers in your mid-twenties as that’s when collagen production starts to decline by about 1% every year,” says Martha Viera, MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in Coral Gables, Florida. That said, if fine lines and wrinkles aren’t yet a concern, there’s no need to rush into using wrinkle fillers. Instead, “it’s more beneficial to focus on building a strong skin-care routine with essentials like sunscreen, moisturizers, antioxidants, and retinol to keep skin happy and protected for the long run,” adds Dr. Lolis.

So: Go ahead and own your wrinkles, but if you’re ever in the mood to smooth them out, these expert-approved wrinkle fillers are an easy way to refresh your look.

Best Overall: Alastin HA Immerse Serum

A silver bottle of Alastin HA Immerse Serum on a light gray background

Alastin Skincare

HA Immerse Serum

Why we love it: We’ve waxed poetic about Alastin’s HA Immerse Serum before, but let’s be extra clear: This isn’t your run-of-the-mill hyaluronic acid serum. Sodium hyaluronate (a stabilized form of hyaluronic acid) and crosslinked hyaluronic acid bind water to skin, giving it “an immediate refreshing and plumping effect,” says Dr. Viera. But rather than stopping at that quick hit of hydration, the formula also aims to keep skin plump over time, too.

The brand’s proprietary octapeptide-45 is designed to encourage skin’s natural production of high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid (the kind that maintains hydration in the surface layers of skin), while hexapeptide-11 helps inhibit enzymes responsible for breaking HA down. In other words, one peptide helps skin make more of its own HA, while the other helps preserve what’s already there. Silver mushroom extract, glycerin, and betaine layer in more moisture, helping lines (whether from aging or dehydration) look smoother, while skin feels softer and bouncier.

"To me, the mark of a noteworthy product (especially a serum) is one that your routine feels truly lonely without. That's how I feel about Alastin’s HA Immerse. It makes any moisturizer I layer over it all the more soothing, hydrating, and effective, but even without any next step, this serum helps me avoid the too-tight feeling I get when I wait too long to moisturize after washing my face. As someone with facial eczema flare-ups and borderline-mature skin, ever since using this serum, I've noticed fewer flakes and an all-over more supple look and feel." —Shanna Shipin, senior commerce director

Best for Deeper Wrinkles: SkinCeuticals P-Tiox

SkinCeuticals

P-Tiox

Why we love it: This isn’t the first time you’ve heard us talk about SkinCeuticals’ P-Tiox—and it definitely won’t be the last. Consider this your refresher: Peptides take the lead here, working hard to soften expression lines and give skin that plump, glassy finish. Your skin will appreciate the power trio of 5% polyhydroxy acid, 5% niacinamide, and 1% laminaria extract, which zeroes in on the spots where fine lines love to show up (think cheek folds and the glabella between your brows). “P-Tiox is my secret weapon to keep wrinkles in their place,” says Jane Yoo, MD, a dual board-certified dermatologist based in New York City. “It glides on very smoothly, so you can easily layer on your other skin-care products afterward.”

Tester feedback from contributing commerce editor Deanna Pai

“I use this in between my neuromodulator appointments and when I just can’t get Botox, like during pregnancy. I’ve found that it helps slow the roll of my forehead lines and can target expression lines where injectables can’t, like around my mouth.” —Deanna Pai, Allure contributing commerce editor

Best Splurge: SkinMedica TNS Advanced+ Serum

SkinMedica TNS Advanced+ Serum in branded component on a light gray background with the 2026 best of beauty seal in the top right corner

SkinMedica

TNS Advanced+ Serum

Why we love it: A Hall of Fame winner that added yet another Best of Beauty Award to its résumé in 2026, SkinMedica’s TNS Advanced+ Serum was doing growth factors long before they became one of skin care’s buzziest ingredients. The titular “TNS” stands for tissue nutrient solution, a blend of growth factors and other proteins produced by lab-grown human fibroblasts (the cells responsible for making collagen and elastin in skin). These proteins act as messengers, helping signal processes involved in skin repair and collagen and elastin production. “SkinMedica received the patent in 2000 for the first cosmetic product with growth factors [and] numerous clinical studies have since backed TNS growth factors,” board-certified dermatologist Mina Amin, MD, previously told Allure. Blair Murphy-Rose, MD, a board-certified dermatologist, also called it “one of the most clinically supported growth-factor serums on the market,” with firmer-looking skin possible in as little as two weeks.

Growth factors may steal the spotlight, but the rest of the formula pulls its weight, too. The dual-chamber bottle pairs them with peptides designed to further support firmness and elasticity, as well as an antioxidant blend featuring marine extract and green microalgae to improve the appearance of tone and texture. One pump dispenses both formulas at once, combining them into a silky, lightweight, and fragrance-free serum that layers easily with the rest of your skin-care routine. (Pro tip: A recent redesign of the bottle supposedly took care of the pump issue—in which they dispensed the formulas unevenly—but we’ve found that storing the bottle upright helps, too.)

"Over a decade ago, when I was first introduced to SkinMedica's TNS Advanced+ Serum, my late-20s, pre-kids skin simply couldn't appreciate everything it had to offer. Back then, I mostly looked for hydration, and if that's still your main concern, plenty of less expensive serums will do the job. But now, in the last year of my 30s (with two kids and plenty of hormonal shifts later), my skin has seen some things: melasma, dullness, fine lines, uneven texture, and, yes, it's still as dry as ever. After just two weeks of using this serum again, I've noticed my habitually dry, sensitive skin looks smoother, brighter, and a little firmer, especially around the lower cheeks and jawline where I'd started noticing hints of sagging. While the difference probably wouldn't jump out in before-and-after photos yet, I can feel it and see it. Even better, the fragrance-free formula has never irritated my sensitive skin, sinks in almost instantly, and leaves behind a subtle glow without pilling under makeup. The only tricky part is the opaque packaging that makes it impossible to tell when you're about to run out, which, at this price, would be helpful to know when you need to stock up." —Christa Lee, contributing commerce writer

Best for Crepiness: Obagi ElastiDerm Firming Facial Serum

Obagi ElastiDerm Firming Facial Serum in branded component on a light gray background

Obagi

ElastiDerm Firming Facial Serum

Why we love it: Crepey skin happens when the stretchy scaffolding within the skin (elastin) that once kept your complexion looking taut and springy starts to lose some of its snap. Obagi’s ElastiDerm Firming Facial Serum goes straight after that loss of elasticity with the brand’s proprietary Bi-Mineral Contour Complex, “a blend of zinc, copper, and malonate (a derivative of malonic acid) designed to support the three stages involved in healthy elastin development,” says Cheryl Karcher, MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in New York City. “Elastin allows the skin to stretch and bounce back,” she says.

Translation: The serum gives the skin’s natural “rubber band” system a little backup, which can make thin, crinkly texture look smoother and skin feel firmer and more resilient over time. Glycerin also pulls in moisture for an immediate plumping assist (because crepiness always looks more obvious when skin is thirsty) while silicones help create a silky, smoothed-out finish on contact.

Best for Barrier Repair: Dr.Reju-All Advanced PDRN Copper Peptide Serum

Dr.Reju-All Advanced PDRN Copper Peptide Serum in branded dropper component on a light gray background

Dr. Reju-All

Advanced PDRN Copper Peptide Serum

Why we love it: Dr.Reju-All is a Korean pharmacy skin-care brand best known for its PDRN-powered formulas. Advanced PDRN Copper Peptide Serum contains 1,200 ppm (roughly 0.12%) of salmon-derived PDRN—short DNA fragments intended to support skin renewal and repair. PDRN injections, which are legal abroad but not in the US, “are basically turning on the switch to wake up the cells and hopefully get them to produce more collagen,” Mona Gohara, MD, a board-certified dermatologist in Hamden, Connecticut, previously told Allure. But there’s an important distinction between injecting PDRN and applying it topically: “Clinical evidence for topical PDRN serums is still emerging,” says Dr. Karcher. That doesn’t necessarily mean PDRN serums can’t improve the look of your skin; it just makes it difficult to know how much of that improvement can be credited to PDRN itself.

Fortunately, the formula has plenty more going for it. A 1% multi-peptide complex includes copper tripeptide-1 and other signaling peptides that help support the extracellular matrix—the structural framework that gives skin its firmness and elasticity. It’s one reason Dr. Karcher particularly likes this combination for “thin, crepey skin.” As she explains, “You’re addressing both regeneration and structural support rather than simply temporarily plumping the skin.” There’s plenty of barrier backup, too: Niacinamide helps support the production of barrier-building lipids like ceramides, while panthenol and beta-glucan help soothe skin and support moisture retention. That’s particularly helpful for wrinkles because a compromised barrier loses water more readily, which can leave dehydrated skin looking more crepey and make fine lines appear more pronounced. Finally, glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, and sodium PCA draw in even more moisture for a more immediate plumping effect.

Best for Early Signs of Aging: Medik8 Liquid Peptides Advanced MP Serum

Medik8 Liquid Peptides Advanced Face Serum on a grey background

Medik8

Liquid Peptides Advanced Face Serum

Why we love it: When you need more than two hands to count all the peptides in a serum, you know the formula is stacked. Medik8’s Liquid Peptides Advanced MP Serum packs 13 of them, including copper peptides and Matrixyl 3000, into a whopping 30% multi-peptide complex designed to visibly smooth wrinkles and improve skin texture. But the real standouts are the brand’s proprietary Growth Factor MiniProtein and Expression Line MiniProtein, lab-designed proteins engineered with specific shapes and small molecular sizes to target different signs of aging. The Expression Line MiniProtein focuses on dynamic lines—the ones etched in by years of smiling, squinting, and raising your eyebrows—helping them appear smoother and less pronounced, while the Growth Factor MiniProtein takes a more gradual approach, targeting the appearance of skin’s underlying structure for firmer, more supple-looking skin over time.

Meanwhile, glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, and panthenol load up skin with moisture, delivering an immediate plumping assist that can make fine lines look less obvious. In other words, this serum covers both bases: hydration that makes skin look smoother now and a seriously robust peptide lineup designed to tackle the look of wrinkles the more you use it.

“I was so excited to try this product (not least because of the ‘Botox in a bottle’ conversation surrounding it), and let me tell you: This is something worth making room for in your routine, especially if you're pregnant and can't use retinol, or are simply too sensitive for the likes of vitamin A! This formula impressed me right away since it includes peptides that are both fast-acting (as in, you can see an immediate skin-plumping effect) and those that work over time to smooth out deeper-set wrinkles. The texture is gel-like and can feel a smidge tacky on the fingers (you can see me in the demonstration video smacking it between my hands to show its interesting consistency), but it applies smoothly and feels totally weightless. Part of my love for it comes from that bounce of light you get off the skin right after applying. I haven't experienced pilling with foundation or other moisturizers, and importantly, no instant itchy feeling that I get with some high-performing skin-care products.” —Shanna Shipin, senior commerce director

Tester feedback from commerce editor Sarah Han

“I may not be the target target audience for this product (I’m only 32), but I’ll be darned if I don’t stave off fine lines (especially those creeping up on my forehead) as much as possible—without, as a personal preference, turning to in-office procedures such as filler and Botox. Liquid Peptides Advanced has a wonderfully lightweight, watery-gel consistency that fits in perfectly with my extensive nighttime routine. I’ll even pair it with retinol for a one-two, texture-smoothing, skin-plumping punch. What follows (my night cream) sinks in quickly, and my face doesn’t feel like I’ve glooped on seven layers of product (even if I actually have)." —Sarah Han, commerce editor

Fastest Acting: Isdin Instant Flash Firming and Lifting Serum Ampoules

Isdin Isdinceutics Instant Flash Firming and Lifting Serum three gold ampoules on light gray background

Isdin

Isdinceutics Instant Flash Firming and Lifting Serum Ampoules

Why it’s worth it: Don’t let the size of these teeny-tiny ampoules fool you—a little goes a long way in making skin look plumper and bringing back that bounce. Isdin’s Instant Flash Firming and Lifting Serum Ampoules have peptide Q10, a peptide paired with coenzyme Q10, an antioxidant your skin naturally produces but loses over time. Together, they help support firmness and smooth the look of fine lines while boosting radiance, especially when skin looks tired or dull. Add in hyaluronic acid, which floods skin with hydration for an instant plumping effect. “This serum gives a lifting and radiant effect, promotes hydration, and helps the skin look firmer and smoother,” says Dr. Viera. Plus, the rejuvenating lift lasts up to eight hours—plenty of time to convince everyone you got a full night’s sleep (even if you didn’t). And, if you’ve ever had the heartbreak of shattering your favorite skincare container on the bathroom floor, you’ll love how these little ampoules are practically spill-proof.

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare

DermInfusions Fill + Repair Serum

Why it’s worth it: Hyaluronic acid has long been a star player when it comes to tackling fine lines, sagging, and boosting elasticity—and Dr. Dennis Gross DermInfusions Fill + Repair Serum doesn’t just include one form, but four. But that’s just the beginning of what makes this product a derm-favorite. “This serum has the holy grail of all my favorite ingredients: ectoin, which works synergistically with hyaluronic acid to give your skin nice plumpness and help repair your skin’s moisture barrier,” says Dr. Lolis. “Plus, it includes peptides, antioxidants, and niacinamide, which work together to plump your skin and stimulate protein production.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Do wrinkle filler creams really work?

Yes, but with some important distinctions compared to their injectable counterparts. “There are many amazing topical wrinkle ‘fillers’ that can really plump your skin. But, these are not as effective as injectable dermal fillers,” says Dr. Viera. The main difference between wrinkle fillers that anyone can buy at a store and injectables lies in the depth of penetration, with “over-the-counter creams working at the surface level and injectables affecting the deeper layers of the skin,” she adds.

How long do wrinkle fillers last?

The effects of wrinkle fillers are temporary: “Usually anywhere from a few hours to a day,” says Dr. Lolis. While they don’t last long, “the benefits over over-the-counter wrinkle fillers are primarily that users see immediate effects. They are needle-free options, and more affordable over injectable fillers,” she adds.

What ingredients can help “fill” wrinkles in a topical product?

When it comes to wrinkle-filling topical products, the key ingredients to look for are all about giving your skin a plumper, smoother appearance. Dr. Viera highlights hyaluronic acid's “ability to retain and attract moisture—making skin look fuller and reducing fine lines.” Antioxidants like “niacinamide, peptides, and vitamin C help improve skin texture, pigmentation, and fight free radicals while boosting collagen production,” she says. A newer ingredient popping up on ingredient lists is argireline, “sometimes referred to as ‘topical Botox’ for its ability to partially relax muscles and stimulate collagen and elastin production,” she says. Lastly, over-the-counter retinoids “have many important functions in slowing collagen breakdown, increasing cell turnover, and improving skin texture,” she adds.

How we test and review products

When Allure tests a product, our editors look at it from every angle in an effort to best serve you. We review ingredients, scrutinize brand claims, and, when necessary, examine peer-reviewed scientific and medical studies. In addition to testing each and every product that's included in each and every review, we rely on experts who shape their fields, including dermatology, cosmetic chemistry, and medicine, to help us vet the ingredients and formulas.

For our list of the best wrinkle fillers, we considered each product's performance across five primary categories: product ingredients and efficacy, packaging, fragrance, texture, and product wear. Every product was determined to have excelled in each category by our editorial team, which is composed of in-house writers and editors as well as contributors—along with special consideration from dermatologists. Our staff and testers

A beauty product is a personal purchase. You might be searching for a face cream to address persistent dryness or a new nail product to add to your Sunday self-care routine; you may simply be browsing around for the latest launches to hit the hair market. No matter what you seek or your individual needs and concerns, Allure wants to ensure that you love anything we recommend in our stories. We believe that having a diverse team of writers and editors—in addition to the wide range of outside testers and industry experts we regularly call upon—is essential to reaching that goal.

After all, can we really say a skin-care product is the "best" for people over 50 if the only testers we've solicited opinions from folks who have yet to hit 30? Can we honestly deem a high-end diffuser worthy of your hard-earned cash if it's never been tested on curls? We're proud that our staff spans a wide range of ages, skin tones, hair textures, genders, and backgrounds, which means that we are able to fairly assess any beauty product that comes into the beauty closet.
