HIGH TIME: Paris Couture Week in January will be headlined by the return of Atelier Versace, marking the debut collection by creative officer Pieter Mulier.

The Italian fashion house confirmed the showing in a short statement shared exclusively with WWD, noting that the “date and venue will be announced in due course.”

Paris Couture Week is scheduled for Jan. 25 to 28 in the French capital. Atelier Versace last staged a dedicated runway show in July 2016, while maintaining a couture presence via private orders and red carpet moments.

Mulier, who officially started at Versace on July 1, already revealed his first Atelier Versace design on Nicole Kidman, who wore an asymmetric black lace gown at the Los Angeles premiere of “Practical Magic 2” on Aug. 31.

His debut at Versace will be the first visible signal of the brand’s new direction since being acquired last year by Prada Group, with Patrizio Bertelli, the group’s chairman and executive director, saying the two companies shared “a strong commitment to creativity, craftsmanship and heritage,” and that the goal was “to continue Versace’s legacy celebrating and reinterpreting its bold and timeless aesthetic.”

In reporting nine-month figures last week, group chief executive officer Andrea Guerra said Versace’s integration was headed “in the proper direction and we begin to see part of what the collections would look like and so far we’re all very happy. We’re not just looking and talking about ideas, but we’re looking at products at this stage and the team is ready.”
