The Yankees' Newest Star Is Also a Prolific Rapper
His given name is Jasrado Hermis Arrington Chisholm Jr., but the Yankees' newest infield star goes by Jazz.
Perhaps it's no surprise, then, that he's been bit by the music bug.
The surprising part, as revealed in a new report by Fox Sports' Deesha Thosar, is that Chisholm has recorded some 200 songs, a catalog large enough to make many a professional artist envious. Not only that, until now he had managed to keep it under wrap from his teammates — in New York at least, if not in Miami, where he played from the time of his debut in 2020 until July.

How did Chisholm manage to have such a loud introduction as a Yankee — we're talking first player in franchise history to hit seven home runs in his first 12 games kind of loud — without a single teammate having any idea that he's rapped on and produced, he estimated, around 200 songs? Chisholm said he never told them, and it never came up.
A poll around the Yankees clubhouse revealed surprised faces and stunned silence.
While the revelation might come as a surprise, it's perfectly in line with Chisholm's reputation that he would take to music to express himself beyond the baseball diamond.
A free spirit, Chisholm has been outspoken when defending himself and his teammates for expressing themselves through celebrations on the field and in the dugout.
Chisholm has one All-Star nomination (2022) and one MLB The Show Cover (2023) on his resume. At 26, he's a career .248 hitter, with a .311 on-base percentage and a .449 slugging percentage.
In his first 13 games as a Yankee, Chisholm has gone above and beyond. He's hitting .296 (16 for 54) with seven home runs, 11 RBIs, and four stolen bases.

Although some questioned how well Chisholm would transition from a young baseball team in a young baseball market (Miami) to the more corporate, no-beard atmosphere in The Bronx, the transition has been seamless.
Retired pitcher CC Sabathia, who spent 11 years with the Yankees and made three All-Star teams, and was a part of the 2009 World Series winning squad, recently took to social media to praise Chisholm, saying he's "built for the Bronx."

There's no telling whether Chisholm will publicly display his talents for the first time now that he's playing in baseball's largest market. Across town, New York Mets infielder Jose Iglesias has parlayed his fame in baseball into a chart-topping single under the pseudonym "Candelita."
For now, Chisholm's baseball career is bringing him enough fame as it is.
