A Colorful Cabo Wedding Weekend with Pink, Orange, and Sea of Cortez Blue Details

The color palette for the wedding day was pink and orange, with a pop of Blue. I knew I always wanted a bright, colorful, and fun wedding, and not something traditional but still elegant. Pink and Orange are my favorite colors, and the Blue to tie back to the Sea of Cortez.

First off, I wanted to ensure all my guests have FUN and escape work, personal life, and all realities for the weekend. We wanted to ensure everything was taken care of for our guests and that all ran smoothly. The day of the wedding was seamless, relaxed, and happy tears – I did not worry about the world as I was with my family and friends in my favorite place in the world, marrying Ross. I think everyone was looking forward to a night they wouldn’t forget. Having visited Cabo every year for the past 20+ years, I wanted to share this very special place with close family and friends. I wanted the guests to see every aspect that Cabo has to offer, and for them to see why I keep going back. Between the Sea of Cortez, desert, estuary, small town of San Jos,e and beautiful greenery and florals throughout all of Cabo, we had three days of events that took place at VERY different locations. Each night was a very different vibe, starting with welcome cocktails in the estuary, to a Mexican Fiesta and Mariachi band in San J,ose to the wedding day on the beach overlooking the Sea of Cortez.

Ross proposed to me in Cartagena, Colombia. He had visited prior and always mentioned he wanted to take me. We planned a long weekend: two days in the old city and two days on the island of Baru. During our first night on Baru Island, he proposed to me on the rooftop of the Sofitel Hotel while having champagne. One of the most fun and exciting trips we have been on thus far!

Having worked in the fashion industry for over 15 years, I knew I had always wanted to wear Oscar de La Renta for my wedding day, but not a traditional Oscar Dress. As someone who wears bright prints and color, I was looking for something more fun, beachy, and less traditional. The second I tried it on, I cried! I knew it was made for me right away with the immaculate,e detailed floral embroidery, small trim, and perfect fit. Paired with Manolo Blahnik mules, it was exactly me. I had removed the sleeves and made the dress strapless. I used the extra fabric from the sleeves to wrap around my bouquet during the ceremony!

I knew I wanted the bridesmaids in different styles of dresses. My only request was for the girls to wear some shade of pink. Each bridesmaid was able to choose whichever pink dress their heart desired in any silhouette they felt comfortable in, and all worked out! They looked fabulous in all different shades of pink and tied back to the florals, creating an ombre effect on the wedding day – softer during the ceremony around the pool, to pops of color and brights down by the reception.

The men wore suits in a mid-blue from Suit Supply with Black loafers. Ross bought each groomsman a Hermes Tie in a soft blue to tie back to the blue of the wedding day. Something they can keep forever! The ring bearer wore a soft blue suit to tie the groomsmen’s mid-blue suits and the light blue of the ties together.

We had signature drinks each night of the wedding. One specific cocktail everyone loved was the Carajillo during the dance party! Something my brother Chris introduced the family to.

Everyone still talks about the florals; guests thought they were fake! Someone who absolutely loves flowers and buys themselves fresh flowers every week, I always knew florals were going to be important on my wedding day. As someone who had a very specific image, Martha, our florist, made my dreams come to life – between every little detail, the table arrangements, bouquets, large pots during cocktails, and greenery climbing the walls of the venue! And of course, the puppets, guests couldn’t believe how big they were and how much they resembled Ross and me. They were perfect to feature when the dance party kicked off to get everyone to the dance floor!

We wanted a small cake, as we had an endless dessert bar including ice pops and signature espresso cocktails. The cake was a mixed berry flavor and featured the custom Otomi print that was included within the invitations, table numbers, seating charts, and, of course, the dance floor. We wanted to represent the custom Mexican print throughout the entire day that tied the blue, orange,e and pink perfectly together.

My grandmother Eda, who has a very special place in my heart, collected handkerchiefs. My mother, Diana, had one of her white handkerchiefs with her monogram in baby blue, made into a pocket, and filled it with tiny seashells she had collected over the years from Cabo. We then had it sewn into the interior of the dress, something I will cherish forever.

When the fireworks set off and the personalized puppets came out to the dance floor, while ‘Celebrate’ by Pitbull was playing in the background, the party officially started!
