Man with firearm arrested outside of U.S. Capitol

U.S. Capitol Police on Monday arrested an armed motorist at a security stop.
Police stopped the man in his vehicle outside of the north security barricade on Constitution Avenue NE that leads to the Senate side of the Capitol building.
Photos of the stop posted on social media show police officers surrounding a gray SUV.
Officers arrested the man, whom they have yet to name, and were working to learn more about him and why he drove to the Capitol with a firearm.
Firearms are prohibited on Capitol grounds.
Police shut down the north security barricade to investigate the incident and directed people to avoid the area.
