Netflix’s 4-Part ‘Reacher’ Competitor Is Taking Over The World (But Is Already Losing Steam)

Netflix’s dad-thriller lane has a reliable pattern: a new season drops, the show conquers the Top 10 for a week or two, then the audience either sticks for the long haul or moves on to the next algorithm-fed binge. The latest chart come-up is worth noting. Even with a fresh renewal headline in the air, the series’ global footprint is shifting from dominant to lingering, which is often what happens when the core audience has already finished the new episodes and casual viewers stop sampling.

For instance, according to FlixPatrol’s streaming rankings for the last week, in several markets the Gabriel Basso thriller is sliding to the bottom rung or falling out entirely. Australia is now #10 today after hovering #7–#9 earlier in the week. Canada has since dropped the show from its top 10 charts (after #9–#10 earlier). Belgium holds #9, France holds #9, and the U.S. has also dropped from the top 10 after bouncing around #9–#10. Meanwhile, the show has already dropped out in plenty of territories where it was present just days earlier (Bangladesh, Denmark, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, several others), which is the clearest indicator that steam is running out.

The title is The Night Agent, and the timing makes the slide more interesting: Netflix officially renewed it for Season 4 on March 6, 2026. A week later, the charts suggest the renewal didn’t necessarily create that second wave of momentum — it’s stabilizing in the lower Top 10 where finished-the-season-already shows tend to land. The upside is that renewal means Netflix still believes in the franchise; the downside is that the post-drop afterglow is fading faster than a true long-tail monster. However, at the same time, it is worth noting that The Night Agent Season 3 dropped on February 19, so the show has been riding a wave for a month at this point.

Put These Shows on Ice — The Collider TV Quiz!

Tomorrow is the last day of winter, so let’s bundle up one last time for a wintry mix of some of the coldest television settings we’ve ever seen.

Before ‘The Night Agent,’ Shawn Ryan Created a Crime Drama So Good It Still Has a 100% Rotten Tomatoes Score

Before The Night Agent became a Netflix staple, creator Shawn Ryan made The Chicago Code, a one-season FOX crime drama that many viewers missed, despite strong reviews and a rare 100% Rotten Tomatoes score.

That particular show was set in Chicago, and blends street-level policing with city-hall power plays, following Detective Jarek Wysocki (Jason Clarke) as he’s pulled into an anti-corruption push led by Superintendent Teresa Colvin (Jennifer Beals). The key tension comes from Wysocki’s pursuit of Alderman Ronin Gibbons (Delroy Lindo), a charismatic political force tied to the rot. It ran 13 episodes, then got cancelled.

All three seasons of The Night Agent are now streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
